It’s Talent Showdown ’08 weekend, finally! But you’re getting much more than just St. Maarten/St. Martin’s largest annual talent showcase. And there is literally something to do for everyone looking to go out this Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
There’s no doubt that the annual Teen Times Talent Showdown is the most-anticipated event happening this weekend. Everyone under 25 is talking about it. They all want to see who tops the two biggest categories: modeling and dancing, and everybody already has a favorite.

These girls shared the stage as Hot Strotterzz in May. Now, they will compete against each other @ Talent Showdown!
The rivalry between defending champs Hot Strotterzz and Evolution has never been more intense, with models leaving one group for the other within two weeks of the big night. And, considering the controversy after last year’s dance champions were crowned, all the dance groups have to bring their best stuff – better than ever. Here’s the ticket information.
COMING SOON: Full lineup of all the groups for this year’s talent showdown.
Rappers:
Individuals: Entry (En3), Tha Hotshot, Kid Lazy, Lil Q, Benjamin and Rum.
Groups: Lil Warriors, Baller Boys, Young Rebels, L3D, Military Rebels, Ill Spill and 187 Boyz – featuring Dj Vlaun.
Singers:
Individuals: Claire, Reggie and Mils.
Groups: H.O.T. Singers and R.B.S.
Dancers:
Groups: J.N.V. Dancers, H.O.T. Dancers, Adrenaline: Step it Up, Sensual Dancers, D-Licious Dancers, Essentrick, Top Secret and Entourage.
But Talent Showdown ’08 isn’t all you’re getting this weekend. Not by a long-shot.
Tonight, Friday, Make Money Promotions are officially kick-starting their brandname Friday night special – The A-Series – with DJ Nabs out of Atlanta, Ga, U.S.A. This hit-maker was among the first to feature Chris “Luva Luva” Bridges through his radio show “In the Lab with DJ Nabs”. And for those who don’t know, “Dirty South” rapper Bridges gave up the “Luva Luva” name to become “Ludacris”.
Ludacris was also on Nabs’ first mixtape “In the Lab with DJ Nabs: the Live Album” released in 1999 along with Jagged Edge and others.
His collaborations have included a long-time partnership with producer Jermaine Dupri of So-So Def Records (Nabs is their official tour DJ). Nabs has spun music for female rapper Da Brat, Xscape, and others. r Needless to say, DJ Nabs is a veteran, and he is coming to St. Maarten for a one-night-only show at Club Deja Vu. Entrance is $10 downstairs and $20 upstairs (where all the action will be).
Back to Saturday: The official after-party for the talent show happens at Club Vybz (announced on last Sunday’s episode of The Andrew Dick Radio Show) as soon as the show ends!
And, since Fashion Fusion II has been cancelled, the big party after the big show will be the 78 inc/Make Money Promotions – Wild Out Girlz Bike Rally/Beach Bash all-day Sunday.
The bike rally takes off from Club Deja Vu at 2:30pm, and the beach bash starts at 3:00pm. You gotta be there to see all your favorite Wild Out Girlz from Club Deja Vu.
Other events this weekend include:
Friday:
MRI party @ Club Vybz from 11:00pm!
Saturday:
Free art exhibition @ Philipsburg Cultural and Community Center from 7:30pm!
Karaoke Explosion @ Simpson Bay Fish Market!
Of course, More Bacchanal will be at some of the biggest events this weekend!
