Six St. Maarten/St. Martin dance groups are ready to battle it out for the title of “St. Maarten Top Talent: Dance Crew”.Yeah, it’s starting two weeks later than planned and two crews short, but organizers have no doubt that the first-ever St. Maarten Top Talent: Dance Crew TV event will be a hit.
Pitting six of the top crews on both the Dutch Side and French Side head–to-head, former dancer and choreographer Mikki G is still looking to crown one the best dance group on the island. Hydrolics, Top Secret Dancers, The Spotlight, H.O.T. Dancers, Low Rydahz and L.T.L. are all competing for this coveted title and prize money.
The rules are simple.
Organizers tape the crews showing off their skills in the best way that captures the week’s theme.
Two nights later, the episode airs on Cable TV Channel 15 at 9:00pm, giving the island a chance to see these young talents in action. Each week, the show is airing on French St. Martin Cable TV.
And then the fun part: Between Tuesday and the next Sunday, viewers can Short Message System (SMS) or “TEXT” their choice with a United Telecommunications Services (UTS) or TelCell phones to 1010 to vote for their favorite crews. There episode repeats each Friday.
The single crew with the lowest score at the end of each week is eliminated.
And the process is repeated four more times, until one crew gets the title and a grand prize of $3,000.
Organizers are limiting the crews only in what they can wear and how “vulgar” their styles can be.
Besides that, it’s really no-holds-barred for this competition.
If you want to get in on any of the tapings, keep your eyes and ears open. Organizers will be offering 80 tickets to each taping that will go out to people on the island for free.
