Othneilia Binns is Ms. Summer Heat 2010!

Othneilia Deena Binns won the right to wear the Ms. Summer Heat 2010 crown early Sunday in a controversial finish at the fourth annual pageant.
Judges were deadlocked at the end: they landed on a tie between Binns and Cerette Jean-Louis, with the crown, trips abroad to music video casting calls and other prizes at stake.
In the end, it came down to crowd response, and after five tries, the audience picked Binns as the winner.

The audience was livid. Many walked out of their seats after the favourites missed the top three spots.
Organizers decided that they would split the prizes between Binns and Jean-Louis at an upcoming ceremony.
The competition challenged 10 young women to perform in swimwear and lingerie. They also had to demonstrate their speaking skills in an opening segment. Attire was not judged there.
Former District Queen contestant Shanay Andrews finished as the first runner-up.

Andrews fainted on stage minutes after the decision was called, and she was taken to the hospital. Friends said she complained about feeling warm early on in the competition.
Crowd favourite and pageant veteran Shaeeza Ramjiawan rounded out the top three as second runner-up. Last year’s Ms. Planet Beach, Ramjiawan also took the Ms. Popularity sash for getting hundreds of votes via SMS and here.

Contestants and organizers named Carine Page Ms. Amity for being the friendliest of the competitors. Another contestant, Shanika Thomas, was the judges’ choice for a modelling contract.
