Just over 400 senior students from St. Maarten/St. Martin’s Class of 2010 rocked the house at Prom Night Sunday. Organizers said these stu7dents were “especially energetic from start to finish.”

Entitled “Metropolitan Class”, the 14th edition of Prom Night, organised by Teen Times, was once again dubbed a success not only in terms of the amount of students that attended, but the level of “fun and energy” students brought to the event. Check out the Prom 2010 Gallery!

“Every Prom class has fun, there is no doubt about that, but the Class of 2010 were especially energetic from start to finish,” Angelica Haverkamp, Assistant Coordinator of Teen Times Angelica Haverkamp said. “We usually see students take to the dance floor around 9:00pm, but this group was on the floor from 7:30pm and stayed there until 1:00am.

They also embraced the spirit of the Prom and created terrific memories for themselves. Overall we were very happy with the way Prom 2010 went,” she added.

As has become the custom, students rolled up to Prom in stretch limousines, hummers and other luxury cars. Some had choreographed entrances, much to the delight of the parents who gathered outside of the lobby at Westin to see the spectacle. Once in the ballroom, it didn’t take long for the elegantly formal students to “get in the groove” of things.
The highlight of every Prom Night of course is the crowning of the Prom King & Queen. Prom Queen Shadira Williams and Prom King Sean Labega dance in this www.morebacchanal.com exclusive photo!

St. Maarten Academy senior student Shadira Williams, in a long, tailing purple gown won Prom Queen honors while Caribbean International Academy (CIA) graduate Sean Labega decked out in a white suit took home the title of Prom King.

According to the organisers, the Best Dress award winner Fabiola Rosado “wowed with her Cinderella dress” from the time she walked into the Prom. She is also a graduate of the CIA.
“Shadira was a prime example of how this group was this year. From start to finish she was on the dance floor having fun and encouraging others. Sean just stood out from the guys and had good Prom spirit. Fabiola could not be ignored, wherever she walked she turned heads. She was really lovely,” Haverkamp said.

With Prom 2010 in the books, Teen Times will now turn their attention to their next big annual event, Talent Showdown, and then prepare for the 15th annivessary of Prom next year. “And for that, we have quite a plan in store for the class of 2011.”
The organisers also made special mention of the companies and individuals who came to their aid “in a time when sponsorship is extremely difficult to get.”
