Keila Gumbs has done it again. With nearly a perfect 1,200-point finish, she leads the females in St. Maarten Star Search going into the finals this Friday night, December 12.

On a night where the girls had to deliver American Idol winner Fantasia’s “I Believe”, Keila again outperformed the other eight singers in the competition, cementing a lead that began with an 1,102-point end two weeks earlier. She got 1,111 points from the three judges after the second round.

However, it was the wrap-up of the other girls in the showdown that was most surprising for the night. Tatiana Gibs and Mina James, who finished sixth and eighth after the first round, finished in the second and third places respectively.

Tatiana got 1,062 and Mina got 1,028.

First-round, third-place finisher Shernel Xavier was bumped from the top three and knocked down one spot to fourth, finishing with 986.

Most surprising was former second-place finisher Dahlia Richards falling into fifth place and just narrowly dodging elimination. She got 969 points.

Four other girls – Ivana Bryan (949), Makieba Gibs (925), Miliene Relis (890) and Shanyra Richardson (785) – were eliminated after the second round.

Now: the girls must compete against each other one more time this Friday, December 12, at the St. Maarten Star Search 2 Finals. Also competing will be five guys and four kids, who are under-15 – all of them will be vying for the title of 2008 Star Search winner. Last week’s second Male/Kids round was cancelled and the competitors were sent through to the finals.
