Fela! stars took three awards – Best Choreography, Best Costume Design and Best Sound Design.
“It means a great deal, especially because of the content of the work and the amazing message that we sent across on that stage every night,” de Weever told NY Post. “I’m really honored to be a part of that.”
The musical was nominated in 11 categories.
She continued: “To me it wasn’t about being the winner; we were all winners… we came there doing what we love.”
